Our Story
My dream back in 2020 was to make use of my baking skills and create a tiny business, putting care and warmth at the forefront of everything I made.
There were no big ambitions. Just a desire to help village residents overcome some of the terrible situations we all found ourselves in during the first Lockdown.
I busied myself making home-made soups, scones, takeaway meals and helping those who were vulnerable to gain access to wholesome food when they were unable to leave their homes.
As with a lot of businesses that have organically grown and four years later, I now find myself in a beautiful location in Wirksworth on North End, nestled amongst so many inspiring makers and creative artists, working with such talented people, who I can hand on heart say genuinely care about what we make, how we make it and the experience that we provide. I'm still not quite sure how I've arrived here. There's Lynn, my partner in crime, who not only is an extremely talented cook, but a logistics queen. And our team are all completely dedicated to getting things right, being present and being helpful and most of all, smiley.
Every single client is unique. Every menu slightly different. We've created some beautiful food for families, holiday goers, big birthday celebrations and we've worked very closely with family members who wish to say goodbye to a loved one in the most personal and respectful way possible. We've also worked with many inspirational leaders, life and business coaches, retreat owners and leadership teams looking for that something extra. Not just food. Not just a menu, but an eye for detail and an ability to pre-empt the unexpected.
Our care and commitment is second to none.
To summarise, we are an experience led, food and events business with a huge heart. We promise you always, without fail, food made with love ❤️

“Rhubarb catered for my team during our first offsite up near Derby. Led by Lisa, the team did a fantastic job, creating delicious and interesting dishes that all tasted fantastic, looked after our vegetarians and went above and beyond to ensure other elements of our trip were great, despite nothing to gain for them personally. They even decorated the table and cleaned up on our last night to make it extra special for us.
It was a genuine pleasure being served by them and we’d use them again in a heartbeat!

“I recently went to a hen party and The Rhubarb kitchen hosted…wow fantastic service, friendly staff.. and most importantly the food was delicious! They even went the extra mile changing some ingredients for one of the party guests who was lactose intolerant. Absolutely fabulous would definitely recommend.”

“Lisa and Lynn at the Rhubarb Kitchen were an absolute pleasure to work with! We met them for a tasting and were so impressed with their range of Canapés in flavour and presentation. They were so thoughtful in putting together a plan and so professional on the day - guests have told me that the Indian grazing table they put together was a real highlight. I’m sad I didn’t get to try more of the food on the day but luckily they left me some to eat the following day and it was totally delicious!”

“The Rhubarb Kitchen provided food for a family party of 26. The choices were great, the cost very reasonable and the food itself was delicious especially the puddings!”

“A recipe has no soul. You the cook,
must bring soul to the recipe.”
